Sindh is rich in diversified Wildlife species. The natural habitat of Wildlife found in various ecological zones of the province include coast line (sandy bays to mangrove forests), Riverine forests along both banks of Indus river, the Indus plains and inland brackish and fresh water wetlands and arid areas with xero-phytic vegetation of Registan (Thar & Nara deserts) and Kohistan (Khirthar range). Such a wide range of habitat types, besides supporting resident Wildlife for food water shelter and breeding, also provides wintering ground for a large variety of migratory waterfowl and other birds.

In order to preserve and conserve biological diversity for the maintenance of ecological balance, a comprehensive network of protected areas like Wildlife Sanctuaries, Game Reserves and Khirthar National Park have been established. There is great variety of Wildlife species like Sindh Ibex, Urial (Wild sheep), Chinkara Gazelle, Hogdeer, Wild Ass, Blue Bull, Hyaena, Caracal, Wolf, Jungle Cat, Partridges, Peafowl, Cranes, Bustards, Raptors, Turtle, Monitor lizards, Crocodile and diversified birds and reptiles in the protected areas of Sindh.

Besides conservation of biodiversity, the department regulates healthy sport of game animals and birds. It provides for lawful possession of animals and legal trade in exotic captive bred and non-protected wildlife species. Sindh Wildlife Department also encourages tours to important wildlife Protected Areas in the province for students, nature lovers, bird watchers, researchers and general public to see and enjoy wildlife in natural environment.
