Hab Dam,
Pakistan's third largest dam exists at the end of a 58 Kms.
all weather metalled road past the famous Manghopir hot water
(Sulphur) spring in the north of Karachi, the capital of Sindh
province.

Fed by
river Hab (abode of the finest of all game fish, Mahseer)
and numerous rainy mountain streams, the reservoir formed
by the dam covers an area of 32 square miles. There is plenty
of fish in the lake and one can have a good day out here fishing
and picnicking on one of the many shady spots around the lake.
The lake so formed provides ideal habitat to residential and
refuge to migratory birds, including cranes, Pelicans, Ducks
and Waders. Because of rich natural resource potential, the
lake was declared as Hab Dam Wildlife Sanctuary in July 1974.

On a
small plateau about 16 Kms. from the dam, is the comfortable
tourist complex Khar Centre managed by Sindh Wildlife Department.
Urial can be seen in the vicinity of this centre in the early
mornings and evenings.
