Sindh
has a comprehensive network of protected areas. These protected
areas contribute to the preservation and conservation of biodiversity,
which provide basis for ecological health, natural balance
and economic incentives through community participation.

The most
important and famous protected areas of Sindh are Khirthar
National Park, Haleji, Hudero, Keenjher, Drigh & Lungh
lakes, Deh Akro-II, Nara Desert and Runn of Kutch Wildlife
sanctuaries and Indus Dolphin, Nara, Pai forest, Surjan, Sumbak,
Eri and Hothiano Game Reserves.

GAME RESERVES.
Ramsar
The Convention
on Wetlands of International Importance specially as waterfowl
habitat was signed in
Ramsar (Iran) in 1971 and came into force in December 1975.
Pakistan ratified the convention in 1976.
For the
purpose of this convention, "Watlands are areas of march,
fen, peatland or water, whether
natural or artificial, permanent or temporary, with water
that is static or flowing, fresh, brackish or
salt, including areas of marine water the depth of which at
low tide does not exceed six meters".
